Bikanervala @ Karol Bagh, New Delhi

We had our dinner at Bikanervala, as we wanted something simple like Thosai rather than heavy meat dishes and Briyani. Bikanervala is located at Karol Bagh, New Delhi. The shop is divided into Sweet bakery and Restaurant. We decided to have dinner first and then take away sweet for supper. Bikanervala is honoured with Times Food for “BEST MITHAI SHOP” Award in the year 2013-2014. You have to order and pay at the cashier counter then pass the bill to the food counter, drink counter and snack counter. Yeah!! They have separate counters for everything. Everyone will be given with a small cute vibrating machine that vibrate once the order is done and you have to pick it up from the counter. So basically, it is a self-service restaurant. A couple of people occupied the restaurant when we arrived at 8.30pm but the sweet bakery was super crowded with people taking away. The ambiance of the restaurant was good and clean. I ordered Onion Tomato Uttapam, Plain Dosa, Idli Sambar, Raj Kachori and Milk Badam Pista.

Milk Badam Pista was super duper yummy. Rich, Smooth and this drink is to die for. We even take away 3 Milk Badam Pista to have in the hotel.
Milk Badam Pista @ INR 75.24/ RM 4.72
Raj Kachori tastes good. Yogurt combines well with number of other crunchy ingredients, makes a delicious and refreshing dish to have after the spicy meal.
Raj Kachori @ INR 80.95/ RM 5.08
Plain Dosa was tasty and it is served with a bowl of hot sambar and mild coconut chutney.
Plain Dosa @ INR 100/ RM 6.28
Idli Sambar was good but it was not spongy enough for us (A bit hard). I think South India serves delicious and spongy Idli compare to North India.
Idli Sambar @ INR 75/ RM 4.71
Onion Tomato Uttapam was delicious. Tomato + Onion is lovely combination and I loved it even though its my first time trying it.
Onion Tomato Uttapam @ INR 130/ RM 8.16
We take away Gulab Jamun, Rasmalai and Rasgulla. You have to order and pay at the cashier counter. After that, pass the bill to snacks counter and collect your snacks and sweets. Rasgulla was spongy and it changes texture when you put it in the mouth. My all time favourite sweet. Yummy!!
Rasgulla @ INR 9.53 (RM 0.60)/ Gulab Jamun @ INR 24.76 (RM 1.55)/ Rasmalai @ INR 34.29 (RM 2.15)
Overall, it was a lovely dinner. Foods are delicious and it is the best place to try varieties of sweets and snacks in New Delhi. One of the restaurants with few types of taxes on foods and drinks. Burn a hole in our pocket!!! Look at the details below:
