Xiabu Xiabu @ Changshou Rd, Shanghai
I have been looking for this restaurant during my days in China and to be honest I spent hours for this. Finally, I manage to find the restaurant Hai Di Lao Hot Pot with the help of the staff from the metro line station. Sadly, we have to wait 3 hours before our turn and we have a flight to catch later on. So I gave up on Hai Li Lao Hot Pot and decided to have a quick dinner at Xiabu Xiabu which is located at Changshou. It's located just a 5 minutes walking distance from Changshou Metro Line. We were greeted at the entrance and we find our own place to sit. Once seated, the staff gave us the menu. After flipping through the menu, we ordered 2pax steamboat set. For soup, we choose Spicy Mala Soup and Tomato Soup. It was crowded when we arrived at 8.30pm and remains busy during our entire stay. The ambiance of the restaurant was good to enjoy the meal.
You have to pay on the spot, once ordered.
Steamboat set @ RMB 98/RM 61.09.
Spicy Mala Soup was damn spicy that I have to mix it with Tomato Soup to enjoy. It's one of the spiciest soups I ever had. Tomato Soup tastes superb and both of us really enjoyed it.
I’m not a lamb eater but this is exceptional for me. When I dip it in the spicy dipping sauce, it tastes damn good that I finished a plate by myself.Overall, it was a good steamboat dinner for us. FYI, Changshou Road is a good place to consider if you wanted to have steamboat for dinner as they have plenty of choices to choose from including the well-known Hai Di Lao Hot Pot.
